The second generation of the highly popular Fenix HM51R Ruby V2.0 rechargeable headlamp offers up to 700 lumens (ANSI) of neutral white light (4500K) with a range of up to 120 meters and also features red LEDs. It is powered by a single RCR123A rechargeable battery that recharges directly in the flashlight via a USB-C connector, alternatively a disposable CR123A lithium battery (limited to a max output of 150 lumens) can also be used to power the flashlight. In addition, there is an indication LED in the control button so you will always know when to recharge the battery. The end of the flashlight is magnetic, so it can be easily attached to anything iron. The HM51R has nine different light modes, allowing you to choose between high power and long lasting(up to 120 hours). The lamp is powered by a digitally regulated constant current to guarantee constant light output even when the voltage in the batteries is reduced (when they are slowly discharging).
The all-metal construction ensures high durability, optimal cooling and is also fully waterproof according to IP68 standard up to a depth of 2 meters under water. The practicality of the headlamp is enhanced by the ability to remove the light from the head holder and use it as a small pocket flashlight. Additionally, the headlamp is completed with a steel removable clip, so you can easily attach it to your pocket or strap. The Fenix HM51R headlamp is the ideal companion for a variety of sporting activities, trips to the outdoors and home and work.
The Fenix HM51R headlamp is a limited edition headlamp that is based on the Fenix HM50R headlamp and offers a number of enhancements. For example, a warmer light tint, magnetic tip, constant control in most modes, multiple red light modes and more. All flashlight parameters (lumen output, battery runtime, waterproofing, range, and shockproofing) are measured in accordance with ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009.
There may be a black insulating cap on the battery inside the lantern at the factory. Remove it from the battery pack before first use.
Switching power modes: As long as the headlamp has the white light on, the power modes can be cycled through in the order of 3 - 50 - 150 - 400 - 700 lumens by briefly pressing the button. If the headlamp has the red light on, the light modes can be cycled through in the sequence red 1 lumen - red 5 lumens - red blink - red SOS by short presses of the button. The lamp has a memory and will always switch on in the last set mode (applies to both white and red light).
Overheating protection: operation on the highest mode is limited to 1 minute, then the output is gradually reduced to approx. 500 lumens over a period of 5 minutes. If the internal temperature of the luminaire rises above 60 °C, it will automatically start to reduce the output further in gradual steps until the temperature has stabilised. As soon as the temperature of the luminaire drops below 60 °C, the output will increase again gradually. Operation on 400 lumens mode is limited to 5 minutes, then the output will gradually decrease to 200 lumens over a period of 5 minutes.
If the headlamp is switched off, a single press of the button will activate the batterycharge indication for 3 seconds, which is shown by the coloured backlight of the button: constant green: 100% - 80%, green flashing: 80% - 50%, constant red: 50% - 20%, 4red flashing: 20% or less (recharge the headlamp as soon as possible). The indication only works correctly with rechargeable RCR123A / 16340 batteries.
Charging. Plug the USB cable into any USB source. Unscrew the sealing cap of the charging connector and plug the USB-C connector of the charging cable into the headlamp. During charging, the LED indicator in the button glows red, and turns green when full charge is reached. A fully discharged Fenix ARB-L16-700P battery will charge in approximately 1.5 hours. When charging is complete, disconnect the cable and carefully seal the charging connector with the rubber cap, this will prevent the ingress of dust and water. In case of long-term storage, charge the headlamp before using it again. The battery used does not have a memory effect, so it can be recharged even if it is not fully discharged. While charging, you can use the headlamp in the 3 and 50 lumen white light modes and in all red light modes.
Low battery alert: If the battery voltage drops below the set level, the headlamp will automatically switch to lower power modes. If the headlamp is already switched to the lowest power mode and the battery is critically low, the indicator in the button will flash red. However, the headlamp will continue to illuminate until the battery is completely depleted. The low battery warning is calibrated to the voltage of rechargeable Li-ion batteries only.
Headlamp anti-trigger lock: Loosen the headlamp battery cap a quarter turn, this breaks the electrical contact and the headlamp cannot be switched on. The button can also be locked electronically - with the headlamp switched off, hold the button down for 3 seconds. After locking, the flashlight flashes red. To unlock, hold the button again for 3 seconds.
