Cookies
A cookie is a file containing an identifier (a string of letters and numbers) that is sent by a web server to a web browser and stored by the browser. The identifier is then sent back to the server whenever the browser requests a page from the server.
Cookies can be either "persistent" cookies or "session" cookies: a persistent cookie will be stored in the web browser and will remain valid until a specified expiry date, unless it is deleted by the user before the expiry date. Session cookies expire at the end of the user's session when the web browser is closed.
Cookies typically do not contain any information that personally identifies the user, but the personal information we store may be linked to information stored in and retrieved from cookies.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer when you visit a website. On future visits to these websites, these files will then allow you to use the same default settings as on your last visit.
Temporary cookies are deleted as soon as the web browser window is closed. These are mainly files that serve to secure and identify the connection between your computer and the website you are visiting during the course of a single visit.
Persistent cookies remain stored on your computer even after you close the web browser window. These cookies can then only be read by the server that created them. They are used, for example, to identify you when you log in (you can remain permanently logged in), to identify the preset language that the visitor has set on a previous visit, to display prices in the relevant currency chosen on a previous visit, to personalise advertising, to track user activity on the website or to pre-populate forms.
Cookies can only contain your name or email address if you have previously provided this information to the website in question!
Most browsers are pre-set to accept cookies automatically. If you do not want any information about you to be collected, you can disable the acceptance of cookies in your browser. If you do not want a particular website to store cookies on your device, we recommend that you visit it in the so-called "Incognito mode" of your browser (Incognito, InPrivate, Private Window...). Although your browser supports cookies in this mode, as soon as you close it, all cookies created will be deleted. You can also check or delete cookies created in the past at your discretion.
You can disable the automatic acceptance of cookies in your browser. For instructions on how to refuse the storage of cookies, please refer to the help on your internet browser settings.
However, changing your cookie settings may affect the functionality and smooth loading of the websites you visit. In this case, you may have to manually adjust some settings each time you visit the website, and some services or features may not function properly.
How do we use cookies?
These websites use cookies to remember user settings, to better tailor advertisements to visitors' interests and for the necessary functionality of the websites.
How to control cookies
You can control or delete cookies at your discretion - see aboutcookies.org for details. You can delete all cookies stored on your computer and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being stored. However, if you do this, you may have to manually adjust some settings each time you visit the website and some services and features may not work.
